2015 Another Great Year of Community Involvement for NVE Bank

The holidays are a time for reflection, often with friends, family and other loved ones. With that spirit in mind, now is a good time to look back on all the Bergen County events, programs and activities NVE has been proud to participate in throughout 2015. What we saw was the most dedicated staff, loyal customers, supportive communities, and wonderful partner organizations any Community Bank could ask for! Here are some ways we all came together.

WALKS

AHA walkAHA Walk – We were honored to partner with the Bergen/Passaic chapter of The American Heart Association for its Heart Walk at Van Saun County Park in Paramus. In addition to having 35 employees (plus friends, family members and pets) participate, NVE Bank was delighted to donate $5,000 to the AHA, supporting its efforts to reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

Walk for Awareness – As we have done for years, NVE Bank sponsored and participated in Englewood Hospital and Medical Center’s 17th Annual Walk for Awareness. We successfully raised $4,000 through employee and customer donations, which will be used to assist the Leslie Simon Breast Care and Cytodiagnosis Center in the fight against breast cancer.

Cresskill 5k – NVE Bank’s Cresskill branch weathered chilly autmun temps to support the @Cresskill10k5k run, presented by the Cresskill School District HSA/PTAs. We not only cheered the runners, our staff handed out water and our signature green bags to participants. Congratulations to all for a race well run!

PARADES & FESTIVALS

St. Patrick’s Day – NVE walked in the 34th Annual Bergen County St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The festivities began with a Grand Marshall Breakfast and continued with a flag-raising ceremony at Roy Brown Middle School, followed by the parade march up Washington Avenue.

Tenafly Community Night – NVE Bank’s local branch was proud to be a part of the third annual Tenafly Community Night in September. Area residents came out to interact with the local emergency services personnel and members of the Tenafly business community.

Closter Lions Club 8th Annual Charitable Foundation Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show – Our in-town branch proudly supported the Closter Lions Club for its yearly fundraiser. It was a beautiful day for a great event!

Trike-a-thon – NVE Bank’s Closter branch also helped the Jack in the Box Schools of Closter, Alpine and Tenafly raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) by sponsoring the “Children Helping Children” Trike-a-thon. Our employees handed out water, piggy banks, and our famous green bags to the participants and their families.

Purple Day – During the March event that increases worldwide awareness about epilepsy, many NVE branch teams wore purple to show support for this very important issue. NVE Bank also made a $500 contribution to the American Epilepsy Society.

Go Local Wednesday – Supporting local businesses and making a difference in our communities helps define NVE, so it was only natural that we would host the Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA) “Go Local Wednesday.” Since the program’s inception, NVE has shared various photos of NVE employees shopping, dining and otherwise frequenting local businesses and restaurants.

EDUCATION

collage8th Annual Scholarship Program – NVE Bank continued its support of the Bergen County youth by awarding 18 area students with scholarships to pursue their higher education dreams. Ten high school seniors received $1,000 scholarships and eight 8th graders received a $500 savings product. Congratulations to our 2015 recipients, and good luck as you pursue your educational goals!

BCC Scholarship – Congratulations to Bergen Community College (BCC) sophomore, Judilee King, winner of a $2,000 scholarship from NVE Bank for producing a winning financial literacy Public Service Announcement. The scholarship is part of NVE’s annual contributions to the Bergen Community College Foundation.

Teach Children To Save (TCTS) – Throughout April, NVE Bank managers from all 12 branches educated Bergen County students about good savings habits. It is our way of supporting the future of all our communities.

National Rebuilding Day – Volunteers from NVE Bank once again teamed with Rebuilding Together Bergen County, this time to help rehabilitate a home in Hackensack. NVE also presented a $7,500 donation to the non-profit organization to help this excellent cause!

What we saw was the most dedicated staff, loyal customers, supportive communities, and wonderful partner organizations any Community Bank could ask for! Here are some ways we all came together.

FOOD DRIVES

NVE Bank worked closely with one of our Englewood neighbors – St. Cecilia’s Office of Concern Food Pantry. We hosted our Spring Cereal Drive as part of the Pantry’s “Share Breakfast” program. With the support of our wonderful customers and staff, we delivered more than 250 cereal boxes, which were used by the Pantry to help provide 800+ families in Englewood and surrounding Bergen County communities with healthy and nutritious breakfast food.

NVE Bank worked with the Office of Concern Food Pantry again in November by coordinating a Thanksgiving Food Drive where staff and customers donated more than 100 bags of food to help neighbors in need have a happy holiday. Staffers from NVE’s Executive office and all 12 branches also volunteered at the Pantry, and will help distribute nearly 900 turkeys to families in need by Thanksgiving Day.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Branching out and developing a larger presence on social media has allowed us to establish stronger connections with our customers, partners, neighbors and other great organizations. Through these additional outlets, we’re able to share useful information and engage with people.

Instagram is the latest addition to our social media lineup. One of the Instagram highlights was our photo contest, #GoGreenWithNVEContest. People shared images of the ways they use NVE’s signature green bags. The results were creative, adorable, entertaining and fun!

NVE Bank is participating in #GivingTuesday and plans to use the global day of giving to support St. Cecilia’s Office of Concern Food Pantry’s $10 Christmas gift cards initiative. In addition to raising awareness of the program on all our social media pages, NVE Bank will donate $1,000 towards the purchase of $10 gift cards, which will bring some cheer this Holiday Season to needy families in Bergen County.

INVESTING IN OUR COMMUNITIES

NVE Bank’s heritage is steeped in the tradition of building strong and healthy communities. Our mission to “make a difference” is firmly embedded in our culture of caring and exhibited in the thousands of hours employees volunteer to support charitable causes. It starts at the top, as members of NVE’s management team sit on the boards of local Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, The Salvation Army, bergenPAC, Bergen Community College, Giants of Generosity and many more northern New Jersey organizations.

Commitment to our customers and service to our communities by strengthening social and economic development – that’s the NVE difference.

We want to take another opportunity to thank our wonderful staff, loyal customers, thriving communities, and remarkable partners for another stellar year. We can’t wait to see what 2016 brings!
