So much can happen in a single year that it may be hard to remember all that was accomplished. In taking a look back at 2015, we are reminded of the hard work and dedication of the NVE Bank staff, from their commitment to provide customers with new technology solutions for their increasingly busy lifestyle, continuing their pledge to deliver superior customer service, and to donating time and resources to help customers and communities throughout Bergen County. Here are some of the ways in which last year became memorable.
In this “go-go-go” world that we live in, the ability to conduct banking anywhere at any time is a necessity. That’s why NVE Bank made it a priority in 2015 to add mobility solutions to its line-up of convenience services. Our new technology gives busy customers the ability to conveniently pay bills, transfer money between NVE Bank accounts, check balances, receive text alerts and more, all by simply downloading NVE Bank’s Touch Banking App (for iPhone® or Android™ devices*). Visit www.nvebank.com to learn about all of NVE’s handy mobile and online banking solutions, including MobileSmart Checking, our innovative and all-inclusive checking account.
Another new NVE convenience service is Popmoney®, an innovative personal payment system that makes transferring money as easy as emailing and texting. Use it to send funds to your child at college, deliver a gift (with an e-greeting card!) to family and friends, pay your babysitter, or take care of your rent. You can see how easy it is to use Popmoney by watching our TV ad featuring NVE employees.
One key differentiator between NVE and “big banks” is our desire to truly make a difference in the communities where we live and work. It’s in our DNA and our staff devoted thousands of volunteer hours to support charitable initiatives throughout Bergen County in 2015. Employees teamed with Rebuilding Together Bergen County to help improve low-income homeowners’ homes at no cost, as part of National Rebuilding Day. NVE Senior VP Stephanie Stagg, a Rebuilding board member, also presented the organization with a $7,500 donation from the bank.
NVE presented 10 area high school seniors with $1,000 scholarships, and nine graduating 8th grade students each received $500 Savings Product scholarships as part of NVE Bank’s 8th annual scholarship program. Additionally, NVE awarded a $2,000 scholarship at this year’s Bergen Community College (BCC) Foundation’s 15th Annual Scholarship Program to BCC sophomore Judilee King. Ms. King participated in NVE’s challenge to produce a financial literacy Public Service Announcement targeted to college-age individuals.
NVE Bank also worked closely with one of our Englewood neighbors – St. Cecilia’s Office of Concern Food Pantry – to coordinate food drives throughout the year. Supportive customers and staff members helped collect over 100 bags of Thanksgiving food that was delivered to the more than 800 needy families served by the Office of Concern in Englewood and surrounding communities. NVE employees helped hand out turkeys in the days prior to Thanksgiving, as well.
We didn’t stop there, though. NVE Bank also donated $1,000 to the Office of Concern’s Holiday Gift Card initiative, helping families purchase gifts and other holiday goodies for their children.
Part of what makes NVE Bank so special is our people, and that was evident in many ways throughout 2015. Branch Manager Vivian Mendez was honored early in the year by the Cresskill-Demarest Rotary Club for her outstanding service as Treasurer. She was also appointed as VP of the Club for 2016.
After 30 dedicated years with NVE Bank it was with bittersweet emotion that we wished our dear colleague and friend, Jeanne Stiefel, a very happy retirement. With help from her three beautiful daughters, Karen, Kelly, and Kim, we were able to honor and thank Jeanne for all of her hard work and commitment with a special farewell party.
In May, NVE held its Second Annual PRIDE Awards reception honoring 39 employees who truly exemplified the meaning of PRIDE (Positive, Responsible, Involved, and Dedicated Employees). These winners, and their guests, were treated to a gala dinner at the Brick House restaurant in Wyckoff. They also received a special NVE PRIDE pin with an NVE green gemstone. Top point earners, Jean Learn and Michelle Heil, were additionally honored, with NVE making a $1,000 donation in their names to a charity of their choice.
All employees shared in another award, as NVE Bank earned First Place in the Community Bank category for the Jewish Standard 2015 Readers’ Choice Awards. As one of New Jersey’s strongest Mutual Banks, we are honored to be voted the favorite community bank among Jewish Standard readers in Bergen, Hudson and Passaic Counties for the sixth year in a row.
2015 was also the year we became even more social, as the NVE Bank Instagram page was launched. To unite our platforms, we launched our #GoGreenWithNVEContest, where people were encouraged to share photos of the ways they use and/or “exotic” places they’ve taken our NVE signature green bags. The results were creative, entertaining, and fun!
Thank you to our wonderful staff, loyal customers, growing communities, and supportive partner organizations for another great year! 2015 brought us many remarkable moments and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the new year.
